Described as ‘ridiculous and deep’ (Nkechi Anele, Triple J) ‘unique and individual’ (Forte Magazine) and ‘bursting with good vibes’ (Happy Mag). Immanuel Kwabena Dreessens-Owusu (Oh-woo-sue) is on a journey to find meaning as a multi-instrumental, mixed-race, semi-bogan, old soul/man-child. Hailing from Torquay, Immy grew up living and learning in two worlds; the Australian coastal rock scene and the West African culture of his Ghanaian roots. His Caucasian friends consider him quite ‘ethnic,’ his African family thinks he’s too ‘bogan’ and his music reflects the melting pot of all the pieces that put him together. Wishing to explore the origins of Rock ‘n’ Roll, he travelled to Ghana to study under his grandfather, a highly renowned Ghanaian Folk musician. He returned to Australia with an electric brand of African Psychedelic Rock. Immy’s debut single “Danger” was premiered on Triple J’s ‘Roots ‘n’ All’ program and at Port Fairy Folk Festival in 2019. He is currently working on his sophomore release.
